The 2025 college softball season will see several new faces at the helm of various programs across the country. Here's a look at some of the new head coaches who have been hired to lead their respective new teams.
D'Youville University Shelly Hoerner has been named the new head coach of the D'Youville University softball team. Hoerner returns to Western New York after spending the last seven seasons at Appalachian State.
Georgia College & State University Brittany Johnson has been named the new head coach of Georgia College & State University. Johnson comes over from Saint Leo, where she was associate head softball coach with Erin Kinberger for the last two seasons.
Maine Kimberly Stiles has been named the new head coach of Maine. Stiles spent the last three seasons as head coach at Holy Cross
Notre Dame Boo De Oliveira has been hired as the new pitching coach at Notre Dame. A former head coach at Purdue, De Oliveira returns to college softball as the first hire on Kris Ganeff's inaugural staff with the Fighting Irish.
Gordon College Lily Rivera has been elevated to become the next head coach of the Gordon College softball program. Rivera spent the last two seasons in the dugout as an assistant coach for the squad, and previously wore the Fighting Scot name across her chest for five years as an impactful student-athlete for the program.
Lamar State College Port Arthur Brittany Baker has been named the new head coach of the Lamar State College Port Arthur softball program. Baker assisted longtime Seahawks Head Coach Vance Edwards for six seasons before Edwards announced his retirement just ahead of the 2023-2025 season.
Eastern Illinois University Kristi Paulson has been hired as the 14th head coach in Eastern Illinois University softball history. Paulson comes to EIU with 200 wins and three NJCAA World Series appearances over the last four seasons.
These new head coaches bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to their respective programs. As the 2025 season approaches, fans and players alike will be eager to see how these coaches lead their teams to success on the diamond.
